Colts split weekend games

​The Colts came away with 2 points on the weekend after a successful 6-5 win over the visiting Strait Pirates, followed by a disappointing loss to the Antigonish Bulldogs.

The Colts came away with 2 points on the weekend after a successful 6-5 win over the visiting Strait Pirates, followed by a disappointing loss to the Antigonish Bulldogs.

On Saturday, The Colts led from the beginning of the game taking a 2-0 lead in the first and making it a 4-2 lead in the second but the Pirates kept fighting back and those two goals in the first made a big difference.

Matt Calder led the Colts with a pair of counters with Jacob Tibert, Josh Rector, Josh Kalbhenn and Connor McDougall each scoring one. Morgan Timmons scored a pair for the Pirates with Brennan Delaney, Thomas Robertson and Kirkland Bernard adding singles. Marc Fougere had a pair of assists for Strait. 

Brendon Dorrington made 30 saves for the win. Marcus Otmar took the loss making 31. 


On Sunday in Antigonish -  The Colts got on the board with a goal by Matt Calder. But the Bulldogs came back with three goals, including a shorthander to make it a 3-1 game after the second. They scored another trio in the third, one on the power play and one shorthanded, while holding the Colts to a single by Josh Rector. 

Nate Letcher led the Dogs with a pair with James Briand, Brett MacNeil, Riley MacIsaac and Shawn Long adding singles. Brandon MacDonald took the win with 20 saves. John Prall took the loss with 22 saves. Tanner Doiron played the final nine and a half minutes in net for the Bulldogs and made saves on all five shots he faced.
