Colts score 2 in third to top Blazers in Shootout

2014-12-13

Colts end streak at 4

The Colts successfully got back into the win column last night with a well deserved 5-4 SO win over the Sackville Blazers. In a penalty filled game, which lacked a lot of flow, the Colts came out flat and quickly found themselves down 2-0 only 1 minute into the game. They settled down after that early lapse and scored the only other goal (from Mithcell Hamilton) of the period to finish the frame down 2-1. In the second the Colts continued their flat play in the second allowing two more Blazer goals with the Blazers holding a 4-1 lead midway through the frame. A late goal on a nice individual effort from Kyle Morash brought the Colts to within two heading into the third frame. The Colts came out with more life in the third, and with Brett Armstrong scoring at the midway point of the period, and Jacob Tibert tying the game with 5:45 remaining. Overtime settled nothing and rookie Nathan Shepperd scored the only goal of the shoutout to send the Colts faithful home happy and earn the Colts two much needed points in the standings.

Colts goaltender Jonathan Prall was stellar in nets, entering the game after the Blazers 4th goal and stopping all 28 shots he faced including the 3 shooters in the shootout.
