Colts finish year on high note!

2014-12-20

Calder scores two EN to seal the win for the Colts

Colts defeat Scotians 6-3 to finish the year with a win!

A shorthanded Colts squad was not ready to pack it in early for the Christmas holidays, and played a solid 60 minutes effort with everyone contributing to the win.

The Scotians jumped out to an early lead only 3 minutes into the game on a goal from Brandon Verge, but the Colts scored the next two on goals by Brandon Beaulieu and Jacob Tibert. The score at the end of one period was 2-1.

In the second the Colts continued their attack with goals by Nathan Shepperd and Andrew McLoed. This put the Colts ahead 4-1, but the Scotians scored a late goal to cut the lead to 2.

The third period saw the Scotians on a 5 minute power play which they were able to capitalize and close the gap to 1 goal. The Colts played stong in the defensive end the rest of the way and two empty net goals from Matt Calder sealed the win for the home team.

Jonathan Prall was in nets for the Colts stopping 35 of 38 shots for his second win in as many starts.

In other news the Colts would like to congradulate Cumberland Blues goalie Carly Jackson on her appointment to team Canada's U-18 squad. Well done Carly!
