Colts defeat Penguins 6-3 - in Children's wish foundation season finally

Colts captain Conor Carson and Penguins captain Cody Anthony take the ceremonial puck drop with Children's Wish Foundation's Connor Poplar.

Thanks to everyone who battled the snow yesterday to attend the Colts and Penguins game to finish the 2015-16 NSJHL regular season. The game raised $400 for the children's wish foundation, and special thanks to the 50/50 winner for donating their winnings back to the Children's WIsh foundation, the referees for their generous donation, the Colts coaches, the league executive and to all the fans in attendance. Special thanks to 5 year old Connor Poplar (and his mom) for attending and dropping the puck. We wish you all the best in your current fight and your upcoming trip to Disney world!

The night was a success on many fronts, as the Colts came away with a 6-3 win, lead by Jacob Tibert's two goals and two assists. Also scoring for the Colts were Josh Rector, affiliate Brett Wallace with his first in the NSJHL, Brett Dempsey and Nathan Sheppard. Jonny Prall stopped 44 of 47 shots in the win.

The Colts now begin their quest of a NSJHL championship starting with a best of 3 series against the Liverpool Privateers. Schedule to be released soon.

This game also marked the final regular season for four Colts graduating players.

#17 Matt Calder - Born and raised in Cole Harbour, Matt has been a key member of both the Colts and Mariners orignation. Matt also played a portion of the 2014-15 season with the Liverpool Privateers. Matt has averaged over a point a game in his NSJHL career, totally 87 points in 83 games.

#4 Brandon Leonardo - Brandon joined the Colts this season after having played two successful years with the East Hants Penguins. As a defensman, Brandon has helped lead the Colts offensive attack this season, avergaing a point a game. During his career he has totalled an impressive 88 points in his 94 regular season games.

#9 Conor Carson - Conor joined the Colts this season via a trade, after putting up impressive numbers with the Liverpool Privateers organization. He has maintained a pace of just under 2 points a game as a colt, and in his career has kept an equally impressive points per game total, having totalled 175 points in just 88 regular season games in the NSJHL.

#77 Justin Hessian - Justin is graduating this year completing his fourth season in the NSJHL, having played in 116 regular season games, and putting up over 100 assists and 150 points during his time. Justin is also a veteran of 49 playoff and Don Johnson cup games, and the Colts will be leaning on his leadership and experience as they head into the 2015-16 playoffs.

Congratulations to our four overage players, and we look forward to them pushing their careers into April as the Colts push towards a NSJHL championship.
