Introduction

There is a new look for the Cole Harbour Colts Jr B hockey club as we prepare to hit the ice for the 2016-17 season. With lots of on and off ice changes this summer the Colts are excited to get the season started. Join us in welcoming our new President, Scott Fairbairn, who brings a wealth of hockey experience to our club.

Training camps starts September 2 at Cole Harbour Place followed by the pre season tournament September 11 in East Hants where our coaches will solidify the team. Our excitement to start the season begins with the Colts home opener September 16, 7:30 pm at Cole Harbour Place. Off ice we have been busy acquiring sponsors and new partners. Please visit our website and Facebook page to follow the Colts all season long.

With heavy hearts we will honour our friend, supporter and equipment manager Paul Head. Paul lost his courageous battle with cancer on August 24, 2016. The Colts Hockey Club extends our sincere sympathies to Paul’s family and friends.

Coaches Corner

Welcome to the Colts Coaches Corner. As we move into the month of September, we also move closer to the return of Cole Harbour Colts Hockey for the 2016-2017 season. As we prepare to start training camp, anticipation is high following the Colts first playoff appearance in franchise history last season. The summer has been filled with hard work across the organization, as the team looks to build on last year’s achievements. Veteran players are looking to cement their place in the Colts history books, while younger players look to make an immediate impact right out of the gate. The speed and caliber of play in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League is as high as it has ever been, and the Colts are ready to compete every night.

This season’s schedule is packed with great match-ups. Things get underway September 16th when the Colts face the defending Sid Rowe Division Champion Glace Bay Miners in the home opener, before a home and home against last season’s mini-series opponent Liverpool Privateers September 23rd and 24th. In a rematch of last season’s first round playoff series, the Colts take on the defending Atlantic Canadian Champion Valley Maple Leafs Oct 14th, along with exciting match-ups with the remaining teams in the league later this fall.

In a league with such high competitive balance, there is no grace period. The intensity level will be high and the battle for playoff positing is going to be fought from opening night. We look forward to keeping you updated from the coaches corner as this season progresses, and to your continued support all year.

Best Wishes for the Upcoming Season
