The Colts celebrated the Thanksgiving holiday weekend by picking up 2 wins to get themselves back on track and return to 1st place in the NSJHL Fred Fox Division.

The Colts started the weekend with an overtime win against the Pictou County Scotians in a game which saw 15 goals and 82 shots on goal between the two teams.  Co-Captain Josh Rector led the way with 6 assists, while the Colts received goals from 8 different players.  Alexander Arab (1G), Chris Densmore (1G, 1A), Tristan Giasson (1G, 1A), and Brett Dempsey (1G) picked up their first goals of the season.  Jacob Tibert (1G, 1A), Brett Armstrong (1G, 1A) and Jeffrey Withers (1G) also found the back of the net, while Kyle Pinksen (1G, 1A) picked up the OT winner.  Jordan Sollows (2A ), and Nick Fairbairn (1A) rounded out the scoring.

The holiday weekend finished with an intense divisional match-up on the road against the Sackville Blazers.  Sackville Arena has always been one of the most challenging environments for road teams to pick up points.  Monday night was no exception as the Blazers, perennial contenders in the Fred Fox division, jumped out to an early lead.  Fans in attendance looking for a fast paced and intense divisional match-up were not disappointed as the teams exchanged scoring chances all night.  Great goaltending at both ends however, kept the score at 1-0 through two periods.  The Colts were finally able to break through in the 3rd as Kyle Pinksen (1G, 1A) fired a wrist shot from the slot to break the shutout, before Connor MacLeod (1G) gave the Colts the lead with 6 minutes to go.  Brett Armstrong (1A), and Brett Dempsey (1A) added assists while Jonathan Prall stopped 32 of 33 shots faced to give the give the Colts their 5th win of the season, and sole possession of 1st place in the Fred Fox Division.

The Colts are next in action this weekend with back to back home games Friday and Saturday.  They take on the defending Atlantic Canadian Champion Valley Maple Leafs on Friday, October 14th in a rematch of last year’s playoff series, before meeting the Cumberland County Blues on Saturday, October 15th.  Start time for both games is 7:30pm at Cole Harbour Place, so round up your friends and family and let's fill the Barn this weekend.
